  From my experience, the best time to trek sapa is during autumn and spring. Between June and September, Sapa has perfect weather and because of that, there are tourists going for trekking from all over the world. During these times the weather is a little bit stable and the days are sunny while the nights are cool. Generally, March to May and September to about mid-December are the two times best for visiting this magnificent and marvelous town in Vietnam.  

How do you know the perfect time for trekking Sapa?

  Trekking Sapa can be a little bit tricky considering the fact the weather changes drastically during the seasons.  

Plus it will depend on how you want it, do you want to take a motorbike to the misty mountain tops or do you want the sun to beat you down as you trek and enjoy the clear view of the valleys?

  Probably one of the best time to visit Sapa is when it wakes from the long night of winter. The weather is usually sunny during the days and nights during these times are cool. The landscape in sapa is greener and lusher during the spring than during the other times. Everything is filled with new life after winter and this makes the view during this time phenomenal. You can be sure of taking some of the best photos that will be reminding you of this place. During the spring, the field in Sapa is filled with green and clouds of beautiful white and pink flowers! If you will be visiting sapa for the first time, there is no doubt that spring is the best time to visit. The cool temperatures will make your trekking easier leaving you with more energy to try out the excellent food prepared by the locals, and enjoy the environment in general. Another reason why you might want to consider visiting sapa during the spring is the fact that it is fewer busy during this time as compared to summer so you can be sure of finding accommodation at a lower price. The trails during the spring are normally quieter since there are no big crowds like during the summer. The summer in Sapa is June to September

  The weather starts getting hotter in late May and as June approaches the temperature is about 25 degrees Celsius but there is always a possibility of rain especially during the day. The downpour does not take long to end, it will take probably an hour or two but the downpour is so heavy that the trails become muddy. Because of the muddy trails, it might be a little bit difficult to get around. So if you are planning your trip to sapa during the summer, keep it in mind that some trails might be impossible to use due to the heavy downpour, but if the idea of mud does not make you panic, a trip to sapa during this time is fun and it provides you with a unique adventure. Most people don’t seem to mind the muddy trails anyway. It during the summers that sapa receives the highest number of visitors. Autumn in Sapa is between October and November

  In late September and early October, the rains start to subside and hiking is easier again. The days are still warm but not as during the summer. The nights start becoming cooler and the days milder. Also, it is during the autumn that the people of sapa usually harvest and the rice paddies that weaves through the mountains give sapa a more unique view. Visiting sapa during the autumn will provide you a fascinating experience with an excellent view of the yellow rice paddies and cool weather that is perfect for trekking. Winter is between December and February in Sapa

  The long and cold days and nights begin from early November going all the way to February. During these times, the temperatures are very low and you can even see snow. During the winter, there is a magical view of the mountains covered by white snow but it is very difficult to trek through the trails. But if you equip yourself with the right gears it can still be possible to trek spa. But generally, a trekking spa during the winter will not provide you with the best experience.
